The Velvet Rope is the sixth studio album (after "Janet." - 1993)  by American singer songwriter Janet Jackson (The tenth and youngest child of the Jackson family) . The album was released on October 7, 1997. Producer Janet Jackson - Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Jackson was awarded at the American Music Awards and nominated for "Top Pop Artist" at the Billboard Awards, with "I Get Lonely" receiving a Grammy Award nomination and "Together Again" nominated at the MTV Video Music Awards.
