The Top is the fifth studio album by the English  (from Crawley, West Sussex) Post-punk psychedelic gothic new wave alternative rock pop band The Cure, released on May 4, 1984. Producer David M. Allen - Chris Parry - Robert Smith. It was a commercial success in the UK, peaking at #10 on the UK Albums Chart. "The Caterpillar" was the sole single released from the album.
