Note: Sting closed the Umbria Jazz Festival (in front of a sold-out arena and with a thousand of fans remained without a ticket stationing in the upper square) after 25 years from his historical concert there with the Gil Evans jazz orchestra. Sting dedicated all the concert to Gil defining him his spiritual father. As for all the Italian dates, he spoke a lot of Italian between the songs, introducting Jo as "la bella cantante" (the beautiful singer) and Vinnie as "Vincenzo Pietro, il più grande batterista del mondo, il padrone" (the biggest drummer in the world, the master). One of the rare performances of "Wrapped" and "Roxanne" (with an 8 minutes redition and some "Spirits in the material world" instumental snippets during the central jam) were added too instead of the usual "End of the game" and "Never coming home" double. The big surprise was "Little wing" performed for the first and the only time since the "Nothing like the sun tour" back in the '87/'88, and surely choosen for his historical performance at the Umbria Jazz 25 years before, on the 11th July 1987, with Gil Evans (Sting did the spanish version of song, "Mariposa libre", in few occasions: in 1990, in Montevideo and Santiago, and in Barcelona in 1991. So this is the first time since 1988 he did it in full with the original English lyrics). One of the best Sting concert ever, with a setlist basically made of 10 Police's song, 6 "Summoner's tales" tracks, 2 "Mercury falling" ones, 1 from "Brand new day" and 3 "Nothing like the sun" favourites. No "Soul cages", "Dream of the blue turtles" and "Sacred love" tracks. The concert lasted about 2 hours and 5 minutes, with 22 songs, marking this one as the longest of the "Back to bass tour 2011/2012" instead of the usual set of 1 hour and 45/55 (depending of the number of tracks). "Music for airports" by Brian Eno, as always, was played in loop from 7.30 to 9.10 p.m. as pre-concert music.
