in 1988-1989 in support of his platinum album, Lovesexy. The tour was
his last outing in the 1980s)
Lovesexy is the tenth studio album by American recording artist Prince.
The album was released on May 10, 1988 by Paisley Park Records and
Warner Bros. Producer Prince.
Records, a little over a year after Prince's previous
studio album "Sign o' the Times", which received critical praise and a
Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
The album was certified gold and it produced three commercially-released singles. It reached number 11 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums Chart, and number 5 on the Billboard Top Black Albums Chart. It fared much better in Europe, reaching number 1 in the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden. The album also did well in New Zealand, where it also reached number 1.
