Maxinquaye is the debut studio album by English (ftom Bristol) electronic, hip hop rapper (Trip-hop pioneer) Tricky, released on February 20, 1995. Producer Tricky - Mark Saunders - Howie B - Kevin Petrie. In the years leading up to the album, Tricky got his start with fellow Bristol icons Massive Attack before branching out on his own as a solo artist. Maxinquaye reached the number three position on the United Kingdom's albums chart. At the end of 1995, Maxinquaye was named the year's best record in critics polls conducted by several English publications, including NME, Melody Maker and The Wire. An exceptional album. The NME Album of the Year. Tricky was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, but lost against Portishead's Dummy.
