Tubular Bells
is the debut studio album by English musician multi-instrumentalist songwriter Mike Oldfield (
At just 17 years old when he started composing the music), released on May 25, 1973 as the first album on Virgin Records. Producer Tom Newman - Simon Heyworth - Mike Oldfield. Tubular Bells initially sold slowly, but gained worldwide attention gained worldwide recognition when the opening theme was used for the soundtrack of the horror film "The Exorcist" and went on to become the highest-selling instrumental album of all time. This album is one of the most important albums in contemporary music historyA 50th anniversary edition of the album was released on May26, 2023. This edition, remastered at Abbey Road, includes a handful of special bonus tracks. Of particular note on this tracklist is the brand new 8-minute track, "Tubular Bells 4 Intro," which may very well turn out to be the last piece of music Oldfield has ever recorded, according to a press release from his label. One of the greatest albums ever made. A classic progressive rock. The best-selling instrumental album of all-time. A famous theme, and captivates in its hypnotic melodies.
